This guide applies when the domain itself is registered with Hostinger. Changing nameservers moves control of the domain's DNS zone to the nameserver provider you select, so only make this change when Toolbelt Websites has asked you to do so and has supplied the exact values.
Before you start
Have the nameserver details supplied to you by Toolbelt Websites ready. Do not copy values from another website or guess what they should be.
If you are not sure what this setting does, read what nameservers are first.
Change the nameservers in Hostinger
- Sign in to Hostinger hPanel ↗.
- In the left sidebar, open DNS and select the domain you want to update. Hostinger also allows you to reach the domain by selecting Manage from the domain list.
- Open the DNS / Nameservers area.
- Select Change Nameservers.
- Choose the option to Change nameservers and enter the nameserver details supplied to you by Toolbelt Websites. Hostinger currently allows up to four nameserver values.
- Check each value carefully, then select Save.
Important: check business email before changing nameservers
Changing nameservers changes which provider controls the whole DNS zone. That zone can include website records, MX records used for email, verification records and other services.
If the replacement DNS zone does not contain the records your email provider needs, business email can be disrupted. Read will changing my website affect my email? and contact Toolbelt Websites support before changing anything if you are unsure which email service your business uses.
Only change the nameservers you have been asked to change. Do not delete or reset other DNS records as part of this process.
What happens after you save?
Hostinger currently advises allowing up to 24 hours for nameserver changes to propagate, although a change may become visible sooner. There is no universal guaranteed time because DNS caches refresh at different times.
