An A record connects a hostname to an IPv4 address. This guide assumes Toolbelt Websites has told you which Hostinger DNS record needs changing and has supplied the destination IP address.
Open the Hostinger DNS Zone Editor
- Sign in to Hostinger hPanel ↗.
- Open the DNS controls for the correct domain. With a Hostinger hosting plan, the current route is Websites → select the website → Advanced → DNS Zone Editor.

Find the correct A record
Look for the A record whose Name or hostname matches the one Toolbelt Websites has asked you to change. For the root domain, Hostinger commonly represents the name with @; a subdomain uses its own hostname.
Do not assume every A record should point to the same place. FTP, subdomains and other services can have their own A records.
Edit and save the record
- Select the Edit option for the specific A record.
- Enter the IP address supplied to you by Toolbelt Websites in the target or Points to field.
- Keep the existing record name unless you have been specifically told to change it.
- Leave the TTL at its current/default value unless you have been given a reason to alter it.
- Select Update to save the change.
Do not alter unrelated A, CNAME, MX or TXT records. They may be supporting other parts of the website, business email or third-party services.
After the A record is updated
Hostinger currently advises allowing up to 24 hours for DNS record changes to propagate. Different networks can refresh at different times, so one device can sometimes show the new destination before another.
