Forms & Enquiries

Should I display my phone number as well as a contact form?

For many trades businesses, offering both a clear phone number and a contact form makes it easier for different customers to get in touch.

Some customers want to call immediately

An urgent customer may not want to complete a form and wait for a reply. This is particularly relevant for services such as emergency plumbing, heating faults or urgent electrical work.

Other customers prefer a form

A form works well when the enquiry is less urgent, the customer wants to explain the job in writing, or they are contacting the business outside normal working hours.

Mobile visitors should have an easy route to call

A clearly presented phone number can be made easy to tap on a mobile device. That removes friction for somebody who has already decided they want to speak to the business.

Use the contact options that suit your business

Not every business handles calls in the same way. The best setup depends on how quickly you can answer, the type of work you take on and how your team manages enquiries. Your form should still collect useful information without being unnecessarily long; see What information should my website contact form ask for?.
