Route A: leave the managed service completely
If you cancel and do not need continued use of Toolbelt Websites proprietary functionality, the managed website service ends.
You retain your domain, original supplied assets, customer-owned content and other customer-owned material. Where practical, Toolbelt Websites may make a static public-facing version of the website available.
A static version does not include the managed service. Some interactive features may stop working. For example, managed contact-form delivery or other functionality that depends on the Toolbelt Websites service may no longer operate.
Proprietary Toolbelt Websites software is not supplied to another developer. Another developer is free to build or recreate a replacement website independently.
Route B: continued website licence
If you leave the managed subscription but want to continue using a website that relies upon certain Toolbelt Websites software/functionality, a Continued Website Licence is available for £199 + VAT per year.
This is an annual recurring licence and it must remain paid for as long as the licensed Toolbelt Websites technology continues to be used. If the licence is not renewed, the licence is revoked.
What is not included in the £199 licence?
The continued website licence is a licence only. It does not include:
- Toolbelt Websites hosting;
- Toolbelt Websites support;
- monthly website updates;
- maintenance;
- security management;
- managed form or enquiry delivery;
- SEO work;
- analytics management;
- reporting;
- other managed services.
You are responsible for arranging a suitable hosting environment after leaving. Toolbelt Websites does not guarantee that every feature previously provided through the managed service will continue to operate outside that service.
What are the licence restrictions?
The licence applies to the licensed website/domain only. The licensed Toolbelt Websites technology cannot be resold, duplicated for another website, sublicensed, distributed, reused on an unrelated website or offered to third parties as their own software/platform.
If the website later changes domain, contact Toolbelt Websites in writing so the licensed domain can be updated appropriately.
The Continued Website Licence gives the customer the right to continue using the licensed Toolbelt Websites functionality on the agreed website while the annual licence remains active.
Which route should I choose?
If you simply want your domain, content and assets so another provider can build something independently, Route A is normally the relevant route.
If you want to keep using a website that still relies on specific Toolbelt Websites functionality after ending the managed subscription, ask Toolbelt Websites whether the Continued Website Licence is appropriate before cancelling.
